Cervical cancer is the second most common cancer in women between 15 and 44 years of age and has been observed to affect younger and younger women.

The cytology allows to detect the disease in initial stages.

In uterine cancer it is used in two forms: external and contact (also called curieterapia or brachytherapy).

Brachytherapy is aimed at the destruction of the primary tumor, and is used mainly when the cancer has not spread to other organs or to the lymph nodes.

External radiotherapy is aimed at lymph node involvement. It consists of the therapeutic application of X-rays. It can have some complications such as the formation of rectal and bladder fistulas, and digestive alterations.
