Component Lycium Barbaum as antipyretic

Antipyretics are the drugs that cause the temperature drop in febrile states. The main antipyretics are physical or chemical: cold and ice between the former and salicylic acid, paraaminophenol derivatives (paracetamol), pyrazolone derivatives, etc., among the latter.

The component Lycium barbarum (also cataloged as Lycium chinense) is a species of flowering plant belonging to the family Solanaceae, deciduous macrofanerófito native of China, but introduced and widely naturalized in Europe.

Goji berries have received the attribution of multiple health benefits, however several articles have questioned the scientific endorsement of these supposed virtues. Their polysaccharides were named as the plant (polysaccharides Lycium barbarum). It has been used since ancient times in traditional Chinese medicine and among the supposed properties attributed to it, it stands out the use of its berries to prevent colds since they are a source of important vitamin C. But not only because of vitamin C berries are important, but because they are the fruits that have more antioxidants.

Commercially it is cultivated especially in the north of China, mainly in the region of Ningxia, along the fertile plains of the Yellow River. When the berries ripen they are very delicate and their collection must be done with great care, manually by “milking” or “vareando” the branches. The berries are marketed and especially dried, a process that is carried out by sun drying or more modern, by mechanical drying.

China cultivates almost half of world production; they are consumed in Tibet and the Himalayas.

In the southeast of Spain grow two other species of the genus Lycium: Lycium europaeum L. and Lycium intricatum Boiss, whose species are popularly known by the name of cambrón. It is used as an edge or border between land and as protection by its sharp spikes and enzored branches

On the other hand, we find ascorbic acid or vitamin C that contributes to many body functions, including iron absorption. Large doses of vitamin C usually do not produce toxicity because, being a water soluble vitamin, it is simply expelled through the urine.

The main function of vitamin C is that it contributes to the growth and repair of tissues in all parts of the body. It is used to: Form an important protein used to produce skin, tendons, ligaments and blood vessels. Heal wounds and form scar tissue.

Deficiency in the body of this vitamin produces scurvy which is a relatively rare disease, inflammation and bleeding of the gums. The subclinical lack of vitamin C can also cause a slow healing of wounds or ulcers, suffer from anemia due to hemorrhages and even muscle and cartilage weakening which can cause a lot of pain.

Another virtue of this vitamin is that it promotes the synthesis of collagen and is an epidermal repair. In people with sensitive skin, it minimizes irritation and makes the absorption of creams more effective. By applying vitamin C on your face, you can have a smooth, clean and shiny skin, that is, it improves the texture of your skin and reduces spots.
