Schweitzer, Albert (1875-1965)

Physician, musician, missionary philosopher and theologian, German-French. He stands out as organist and admirer of Bach’s work. Studies medicine. Founded in 1905 the Philharmonic Society Bach in Paris. It is linked to philanthropic activities and in 1913 it founds a hospital in Lambaréné, Gabon, which finances with donations. Rejects the pragmatism of twentieth century society and defends the right to life, an active and responsible ethic. In 1952 he receives the Nobel Peace Prize.
